Keep On Keeping On . . . Motivated, That Is

The target audience for this workshop is both published and unpublished writers who want to feel better about the process of writing and submitting for publication. Every time I present an outline for this, it sounds serious and depressing—it's not! The presentation is designed to be conversational, light, and uplifting.

The workshop is about a 40 or 45 minute presentation with time allotted for questions.

For me, this topic isn't merely a workshop, but a philosophy that carried me through fifteen years of writing and being rejected before I finally found the "success" I wanted. I submitted for publication the first time in 1981, won the Golden Heart in 1995, then sold that novel, which was published in 1997. I've just sold my fifth novel to Silhouette Intimate Moments. For every step forward, there always seem to be a dozen that go some other direction—it's a journey I'm intimately familiar with, a journey whose lessons I would be pleased to share with other writers.

What does success mean to you? What goals do you set for yourself? What do rejection letters mean to you? The frame you put around these determine whether you're able to keep on keeping on for the long haul. The following is a brief outline of the topic.
