Musings...
Where do ideas come from? It’s one of the questions most often asked of writers, and the real truth is ideas are everywhere all the time. Some, though, immediately spawn new ideas. The first what if (and what if is may favorite game) was this: What happens to a woman after she’s been a suspect in a major criminal investigation? And thus came Rachel’s story. When it opens, she’s on the verge of losing her home, and she’s so deep in survivor mode that she’s forgotten how to dream. I’ve been there myself, and I really wanted a story that showed a way out of the abyss.
On the tail of Rachel’s story came Angela’s, which is a natural since her mistakes were the catalyst for Rachel’s downfall. I knew right away that I wanted her to be a redeemable character since she had been Rachel’s best friend from childhood. And so, the second what if was this: What happens to Angela when she gets out of prison?
I am so pleased that my publisher saw the merit in both of these stories since they became so intertwined in my head.
As always, I appreciate your interest and your support. Thanks for stopping by. And do drop me a note to let me know how these stories touch you.
All the best,
Sharon
